Arjun Shankar
Biography
Mallikarjun (Arjun) Shankar is the head of the Advanced Technologies Section in the National Center for Computational Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He directs the Compute and Data Environment for Science (CADES) institutional computing capability at ORNL. Arjun’s research in the national laboratory setting has involved designing high-performance and large-scale data analysis and modeling systems, sensor networking systems, energy grid monitoring and control frameworks, and deploying middleware to overlay data, computation, and control across systems and infrastructure. Arjun received his B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He has served on the DOE ASCAC subcommittee on Scientific and Technical Information, is a member of the AAAS, and a Senior Member of the ACM and the IEEE.
