I studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and left with a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. I joined Deutscher Wetterdienst in 1993 and started to parallelize applications and implement them on parallel computers. Later joined the development team for the COSMO-Model and worked as COSMO main software administrator.
