Gerd Mann
Biography
Dr Gerd Mann is Head IT and Head IT Department at Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland. He studied Medical Computer Science at University of Heidelberg and received his PhD in Medical Informatics in 1993. From 1994 to 1996 he was member of the ‘European Science & Technology Fellowship Programme in Japan’. 1994 to 2000 he was head of the research group ‘Methods of Artificial Intellingence in Medicine at the GSF National Research Center near Munich and assistant professor at University of Heidelberg. In 1998 he founded the spin-off company Advanced Knowledge Solutions and was it’s general manager until 2003. From 2003 to 2015 he hold IT management postions at international pharmaceutical and chemical companies. His last postion before joining PSI was Head IT of Pharma Operations Novartis Switzerland. Since 2015 Gerd Mann is head IT at PSI and head of the IT department.
