SUMMARY:Nuclear Fission Dynamics and Collisions of Heavy Ions in Real Time
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nNuclear Fission Dynamics and Collisions of He
avy Ions in Real Time\n\nBulgac\n\nI will discuss the basic framework and
the applications of the superfluid extension of TDDFT to the microscopic d
escription of nuclear fission and other nuclear reactions, which is one of
the most complex quantum many-body phenomena. Nuclear fission, in spite
of been experimentally discovered more than eighty years ago, it still lac
ks a fully quantum mechanical microscopic description. Nuclear fission and
collisions of heavy ions are highly non-equilibrium processes, and only w
ith the help of leadership supercomputers can be attacked without the man
y simplifying and uncontrollable assumptions made in the past, and without
relying on phenomenology. Results that can be confronted directly with da
ta and obtained within INCITE grants executed on Summit supercomputer will
be presented.\n\nDomain: CS and Math, Physics
