SUMMARY:Armenian Data Cube for Sustainable Development
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nArmenian Data Cube for Sustainable Developmen
t\n\nAsmaryan, Astsatryan\n\nArmenia is among the selected countries to co
ntribute towards shaping the global development agenda, which is both a pr
ivilege and recognition of the country’s unique perspective on devel
opment. However, the data disaggregation encountered when monitoring the p
rocess of attaining several SDG targets triggers the revision of the role
of EO technologies in the environmental decision making process in the cou
ntry. Thus, Swiss-Armenian cooperation initiated the establishment of the
Armenian DC (ADC) as a complete and updated archive of EO data (e.g., Land
sat, Sentinel), benefiting from the experience of the University of Geneva
in implementing the Swiss DC (URL: http://datacube.sci.am). ADC cont
ains Landsat and Sentinel-2 analysis ready data over Armenia. The ADC uses
the National e-infrastructure, a complex IT infrastructure consisting of
networking, data, and computational facilities.<br />The ultimate goal is
to develop an integrated environmental monitoring and decision making plat
form to provide centralized EO and Environmental data processing services,
combining ADC's opportunities with cloud computing and artificial intelli
gence. For instance, the shoreline monitoring service of Lake Sevan relyin
g on the NDWI spectral index. The service, accessible through the Jupyter
notebook, gives sufficiently reliable results.\n\nDomain: Emerging Applica
