SUMMARY:ESiWACE: Towards Storm Resolving Global Weather and Climate Simula
 tions
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nESiWACE: Towards Storm Resolving Global Weath
er and Climate Simulations\n\nBiercamp\n\nTo provide answers and mitigatio
n pathways with respect to climate change we need a new generation of weat
her and climate models, which can directly resolve clouds and storms.
;Such Storm and Cloud Resolving Models will only become possible with Exas
cale Computing. This new type of models will be an indispensable elements
of the “digital twins of the Earth” as envisaged by EU plans f
or Destination Earth as part of Shaping Europe’s digital future. The
center of excellence ESiWACE2 prepares European flagship codes for Exasca
le based on two established networks, the ECMWF (European Center for Mediu
m Range Weather Forecast) and the ENES (European Network on Earth System M
odelling).  The talk will present latest results and technical a
chievements in the context of an international comparison of state of the
art high resolution weather and climate models.\n\nDomain: CS and Math, Em
 erging Applications, Climate and Weather
