SUMMARY:Computational Performance Evaluation of EC-Earth 10km Global Coupl
ed ESiWACE Demonstrator: Main Conclusions and New Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nComputational Performance Evaluation of EC-Ea
rth 10km Global Coupled ESiWACE Demonstrator: Main Conclusions and New Cha
 llenges\n\nAcosta\n\nIn the framework of the ESiWACE2, a ground-breaking c
onfiguration for EC-Earth is on development. In the atmosphere,
the horizontal domain is based on a spectral truncation of the atmospheric
model (IFS) at T1279 together. The ocean component (NEMO) is run on the s
o-called ORCA12 tripolar (cartesian) grid at a horizontal resolution of ab
out 1/12°. In this talk, we will present the computational challenges
faced and the usage of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) performan
ce tools to analyze and profile the code. Additionally, we will present so
me computational improvements regarding code execution and improved I/O ma
nagement. Finally, a complete benchmarking will be presented to provide mo
re information about the scalability and main possible bottlenecks of this
configuration for new pre-exascale machines, providing some conclusions a
bout this work.\n\nDomain: CS and Math, Emerging Applications, Climate and
