SUMMARY:Science-Driven HPC Architectures and Performance Portability in th
 e Cloud
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nScience-Driven HPC Architectures and Performa
nce Portability in the Cloud\n\nMiroslaw\n\nDesign and deployment of super
computing architectures are often constrained by physical resources, inter
nal know-how and policies. That can be a challenge in the current era of n
ew hardware architectures, programming paradigms and constantly changing s
oftware. The cloud gives rise to a new paradigm for running scientific simu
lations. Instead of trying to fit the job into existing resources it is po
ssible to adapt the architecture and compute resources to the job requirem
ents. Not only it gives more flexibility to the scientists but also encour
ages them to prioritize science over limited resources and guarantees perf
ormance portability. During the presentations we will demonstrate some pe
rformance and scalability examples related to scientific applications of s
ignificant performance coming from various disciplines.\n\nDomain: CS and
