SUMMARY:Performance and Accuracy of a Distributed, GPU-Enabled Sparse Dire
ct Solver with Lower Precision Factorization
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nPerformance and Accuracy of a Distributed, GP
U-Enabled Sparse Direct Solver with Lower Precision Factorization\n\nLi\n\
nAn active research area in numerical computation is to exploit lower prec
ision for expensive calculations to obtain higher performance, while achie
ving a higher level of accuracy. Lower precision often leads to faster flo
ps, less memory and communication. We designed a mixed-precision sparse di
rect solver based on this concept. In particular, we use lower precision i
n sparse LU but higher precision in iterative refinements to recover the a
ccuracy. We will present results on multi-GPU nodes for various sparse mat
rices.\n\nDomain: CS and Math, Emerging Applications, Physics, Engineering
