PASC21 will feature up to eight sessions in parallel. The virtual rooms are named after personalities related to the history of Geneva.

Plenaries will be held in the virtual room "Ella Maillart".

Here's some information on those who have given their names to the virtual rooms:

• Ella Maillart (1903 – 1997) was a Swiss adventurer, travel writer, photographer, as well as sportswoman. She is considered one of the 20th century's great travelers.
• Henry Dunant (1828 – 1910) was a Swiss humanitarian, businessman and social activist. He was the co-founder and father of the Red Cross.
• Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712 – 1778) was a Genevan philosopher, writer, and composer. One of the most influential modern philosophers, his writing inspired the leaders of the French Revolution and the Romantic generation.
• Mère Royaume (1542 - between 1603 and 1605) is an historical figure of Geneva. According to the legend, she participated heroically in the Escalade episode in 1602. In this tale, Mère Royaume was the person responsible for pouring a cooking pot over the Savoyard attackers, which led to the victory of Geneva over the enemies. This victory is celebrated annually in Geneva and referred to as ”Fête de l’Escalade.”
• Jean Calvin (1509 – 1564) was a French theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation. He was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later termed Calvinism.
• Michel Mayor (born in 1942) is a Swiss astrophysicist and professor emeritus at the University of Geneva’s Department of Astronomy. He formally retired in 2007, but remains active as a researcher at the Observatory of Geneva. He is co-laureate of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics with Jim Peebles and Didier Queloz.
• Ernesto Bertarelli (born in 1965) is a businessman, philantropist and founder of the yachting syndicate Team Alinghi, which represents the Geneva nautical society (Société Nautique de Genève).
• Louis Favre (1826 – 1879) was a Swiss engineer who is remembered for building the 15 km long Gotthard Rail Tunnel between 1872 and his death in the tunnel in 1879.
• Lise Girardin (1921 – 2010) was a Swiss politician. Graduated from the humanities department of the University of Geneva. A member of the Free Democratic Party, she was the first woman to be elected as mayor of Geneva and the first woman elected to the Council of States.
